Landing Pages
Web Design
After creating a template to redesign the country and region pages of Tucan's website with that task was well underway another job was to build a new set of landing pages based around 'Experiences' that potential clients could also discover the website through their search terms. A thorough competitor analysis and researching with tools like SEMRush we were able to learn what other keywords and categories the potential clientele of Tucan were searching for. So with a new menu category a list was planned and straight away we new food & drink would be a popular search as who doesn't like to indulge in new cuisines whilst exploring abroad. Lots of the companies clients had already mentioned wildlife spotting as a top activity so that was another subject we could easily create content based around. Walking and hiking an activity that is almost bound to happen when on an adventure tour, was another and then last two we found top searches for were festivals and the other history and culture.

So the whole point behind these new landing pages was to make the site rank higher through search engines and be found to a much broader audience when searching particular key words.
Beginning with the Walking and Hiking I would brainstorm ideas of thing that could be useful to the viewers using the website. Things like infographics, tips and knowledge for certain expeditions that are like no other, guides on seasonal hikes what time in the year would be best, fun facts and of course some of the best walking and hiking product available through the company.
Just to be able to provide an enhanced, engaging destination for users to grab information and find tours to help the company succeed in giving those adventure inspiring experiences to their clientele was my target. And in the past some pages built were just holding a small amount of copy along with a list of tours. But I wanted to create something more of a piece of content all relating to the subject, this one being 'Walking and Hiking'.
This would only benefit the SEO values of the site in the long run.
I was working alongside one of the copywriter's in the marketing team who would be write most of the copy for me on this landing page. We planned to have a couple sections of images and icons to break up the bulk of text so the content would flow a little easier on the eye on not be such an overload of copy.
Each section would consist of an inspirational image based on the subject of the page in one of the locations Tucan could take clients. Placed above each image spanning the width of the page would be 4 benefits of hiking accompanied by an icon illustrated to visually portray the short paragraph.

Created extra parts of the page to add more engaging content for the user was something the team had discussed to include so I had a bunch of ideas in my planning stages.
Fun facts which could be a question relating to walking and hiking. All the user had to do was guess and hover over the box to find out the answer.
A set of bullet points listing the pros and cons of having either hiking boots or shoes to inform the potential travellers with the company what would benefit them on their trip more. This would be alongside a illustration displaying the outline of the hiking boot & shoe with named areas of the items.

So the page was pretty much complete and we wanted to boost the likely hood of this being found we also created some subpages that fed off from links. These were more specific location related pages that would be directed to people looking to hiking at those destinations.
